Founded in 1990, its first published book was The Busker's Guide to Europe. Since then Summersdale has published over 1,000 books, created several best-selling authors, and now exports around the world, selling translation rights to many countries.
Summersdale Publishers has a current output of about 90 titles per year. The publishing philosophy is to seek out potential trade best-sellers in the following genres: travel literature, humour, gift, self help, and general non fiction. High standards of editing, design and production are essential elements in all of Summersdale's products, and are backed up by a dedicated sales and publicity department giving comprehensive worldwide sales coverage.
In addition to publishing books, Summersdale also publishes DVDs and online video content.
